SimplyLinks for Joomla
SimplyLinks for Joomla 1.5 is an extension to Joomla that is very helpful when trying to increase internal and external links for the purpose of improving visitor experience and for improving search engine optimization (SEO) results. The extension includes both a component and a plugin. All controls are available through the component side of the extension. The administrator enters as many keywords as he or she would like, along with some other settings. The result is that whenever the keyword appears in the text of an article, it is auto-converted into a hyperlink. Links can be created out of the "first occurence only" or "all occurrences".
As we proceed with active development, we wanted to share a list of the new features that are slated for inclusion in the impending release of SimplyLinks 2.5:
- Adding a new option to allow for "case-sensitive" and "case-insensitive" link matches
- Manually controllable order of links (first matching link entry will be used, subsequent matches ignored)
- Ability to restrict links to "all categories", "selected categories only" or "all categories other than those selected"
- New option to select hyperlink target, "_blank", "_parent", etc.
- Add new link type to link to a menu item instead of sole option of article linking (will allow auto-linking of everything in Joomla, such as shopping cart items, other component data, etc.)
- Multilingual Support
- Markup validation of generated links (best practices)

Now that Joomla 2.5 is out and stable, we are seeking donors to help fund the work required to make Simply Links compatible with Joomla 2.5. We are also seeking input as to features and fixes needed in a new version (please use the feature requests forum to provide your input). We only need to raise a few hundred dollars more (UniMatrix is matching every dollar donated by the community with two additional dollars from UniMatrix)! PLEASE POST YOUR FEATURE WISH LIST TO THE FORUM IMMEDIATELY SO WE CAN GET AS MANY NEW FEATURES AS POSSIBLE INTO THE NEW VERSION! We expect to release the new version of SimplyLinks for Joomla 2.5 in early February, 2012. Please donate to this project. It is open source and free, so it relies on community support from YOU.
